USA Win Open Team Competition

Boat Parade for finals in Sr Men's Trick

Saturday morning brought warmer weather for the final round of competition, but by the afternoon rain and a light breeze put events on hold (a couple of times). Naturally this always raises questions by the skiers.   The American Open Team finished up with a convincing win, with the Australians in Second and Great Britain in third.

Senior Women's had a tie in the final round between Andrea Eggert and Jodi Sherwood so there was a "Jump off" to determine that Jody was a Gold medal winner.

in the Girls jump Ashliegh Stebbins (AUS) won the Junior Girls Jump with a jump 1.5 meters  longer than Elaine Heller from the USA.

News coverage of the event has been great including coverage by the Seattle Times to the  New York Time. If you would like to read the Australian propaganda just click here

Elaine Heller Wins Jr. Worlds Slalom Title

The final round of skiing began today.  Due to weather concerns the final round for Senior Women's Slalom and Junior Girls Slalom was run late on Friday.  The first final event was Sr. Women's which featured a clean sweep by the Americans with the following results:

Jodi Sherwood -USA  13.0 in 1st Place

Sherri Morse -USA       12.2 in 2nd Place

Dawn Farrell -USA        9.4  in 3rd Place

As for the Junior girls this event featured 2 American sisters competing for medal placement.  This was stopped and started 3 times because of a light rain interrupted skiing before and after Shannon Heller went out to ski.  The rain was very light and the water condition were very good when the event resumed with Elaine Heller skiing a personal best at 14.

Elaine Heller-USA         14.0 in 1st Place

Emily Goldei-GBR        11.1 in 2nd Place

Laura Dickers-AUS          9.5 in 3rd Place

On Saturday the event will feature the rest of the Junior and Senior final round.  The Junior skiing will feature Heinrick Sam and it will be interesting to see if he can improve upon his first round performance.  Click here to see Heinrick's first round performance.
